How it all started...

Those who know me are probably surprised that I have written a book. Not only have I written a book, but I’m in the middle of editing my second book. Why am I doing it? Why have I not told anyone?

I didn’t intend it to be a secret, in fact writing was never a plan or even a dream. I always thought that when I had more time on my hands, it would be to return to drawing and painting. You know, I have thought about it, and I think that even though my mind and body have found relief in becoming a supply teacher, my brain will not accept it. The first Covid Lockdown was spent growing vegetables for the first time, attempting to teach myself the keyboard whilst learning songs to sing with Gareth Malone and The British Home Chorus. Not all at the same time I might add.

When finally, I returned to day-to-day teaching contracts, a friend of mine told me that she had written a book. I was so inspired, and it was then that I remembered that I had talked to my husband, a few times about writing a children’s book. So, I thought about it again…but this time I wondered about writing for adults, about something I had experience with.

I’ve always enjoyed reading. My usual go to genre is fantasy or science fiction, but I imagined that would be difficult to write, for a first attempt. I also love a good rom com, who doesn’t? Mix that up with a mystery and add a slice of action and voila, a perfect recipe for a tasty story. The finishing touch was the decision to set the story in my home county. You’ll have to speculate the exact place, but I must add that this is a work of fiction. The places exist, but the characters are totally made up.

Next time, I’ll tell you more about what happened as I wrote the story and where some of my inspiration came from.

Thanks for reading.
