No Limits Festival
23rd and 24th September 2023
Normanby Hall Country Park
North Lincolnshire, England.
My first creative festival and what an experience!
Firstly, thank you to the Rabbit Hole independent bookshop for organising it and inviting me, to the Rabbiting on Spoken Word for inviting me to perform, and thank you to the people at Normanby Hall for all your help.
I am still buzzing from being in the same space with so many people who love books, art and performing. I have definitely now got the creative festival bug!
As an author, it is always a joy to talk to people about my books; this weekend was amazing. To see the enthusiasm and excitement for the stories I have created was a thrill, especially for the young boy who recognised me from supply teaching at his school. He asked me so many questions about my writing, that he could be the Michael Parkinson of the future.
Taking part in the Local author panel has to be a highlight of the weekend. I sat alongside some wonderful local authors:
Carole McEntee-Taylor, Harriet Innes, Gillian Poucher, Alice White and Amy B Garratt. We discussed our writing journeys, what inspires us and our writing plans for the future. It was so successful that we are already planning future talks.
I have always loved performing. I have led children’s play schemes, I am a teacher, acted on stage, directed a play at a theatre, written plays for children and directed those in school, taught in drama classes and now I am reading my own books with The Rabbiting on Spoken Word group.
My next ventures… I am excited about sharing my experiences with local groups and societies, collaborating with my fellow local authors, being involved in more book fairs and writing a Christmas story for children.
Thank you to everyone who came to talk to me at the festival, it was great to meet you all.
